Fabiola’s Family

Fabiola Rojas García has two daughters, Melissa Yaneli, 6 years old, and Dulce Maria, 3 years old. Fabiola works in the amaranth fields, during the reconstruction time of Tecuanipa she was selling food to the workers and when her mom bakes bread she is in charge of selling it. She is a single mom, due to domestic violence she decided to separate from the father of her children and return to her parents’ house.

The day of the earthquake, Fabiola was in her room which is located in the same yard as the room of her grandmother, her daughters were with her grandmother, a part of the wall fell down and the girls were trapped, the door of the room broke and that’s how they were able to rescue them. They suffered minor injuries in their hands and head. Her parents’ house which is also locate in the same yard, got also very damaged by the earthquake and it was going to get demolished because it’s dangerous to live there but they haven’t been able to fix it, that’s were they all live now.

Fabiola, Melissa and Dulce Maria eagerly wished for a house where they could live happy and not be afraid of the house falling down on them. When they got the news that they will have their new home, the girls hugged their mom and said: “Mommy, finally our wish will come true, we will have our little house were we will be safe!”

Fabiola tiene dos hijas, Melissa Yaneli de 6 años y Dulce María de 3 años. Fabiola se dedica al campo, durante el tiempo de reconstrucción de Tecuanipa vendía comida a los albañiles y cuando su mamá hace pan, ella sale a venderlo. Es madre soltera ya que sufrió de violencia doméstica y al presentar golpes en el cuerpo sus padres la acogieron de nuevo en casa.

El día que ocurrió el sismo, Fabiola se encontraba en su cuartito y sus hijas estaban con la abuelita de Fabiola, una parte de la pared les cayó encima y las niñas quedaron atrapadas, la puerta del cuarto se partió y fue por ahí que pudieron sacar a las niñas y a la abuelita. Sufrieron pequeñas heridas en las manos y en la cabeza. La casa donde vive con sus padres también está muy dañada e iba a ser demolida, no han podido arreglarla y es muy peligroso seguir viviendo allí.

Fabiola, Melissa y Dulce María deseaban con mucha ilusión una casa donde puedan vivir felices y ya no tengan miedo de que se les caiga la casa encima. Cuando se les dio la noticia de que se les construirá un nuevo hogar, las niñas abrazaron a su mamá y le dijeron: “Mamá, por fin se nos cumplirá nuestro deseo, vamos a tener nuestra casita donde estaremos a salvo”.
