Timoteo and Ana Flor have three children, Cristian, 7 years old, Ana Itzel, 5 years old, and little Jessica, 3 years old. Timoteo only has a job during the amaranth harvest months, which are November, December and January. Ana Flor is dedicated to taking care of her children and in the afternoon she sells, snacks, candies and drinks outside the Afternoon High School to help support her family.

When Ana Flor and Timoteo met, they decided to try their luck in Mexico City; as Timoteo couldn’t get a job, they returned to Tecuanipa, with nowhere to stay and without the possibility of staying with any of Timoteo’s brothers; they moved to La Colonia (which is a hill in Tecuanipa) where they lent a house and lived there for 3 years until shortly after the earthquake.

During the earthquake, the house was very affected so they were asked to move out in order to fix it. Once again they found themselves without a home to live in, and with scarce resources they don’t have the possibility of acquiring a small piece of land much less to build a house. The parents of Ana Flor, allowed them to put a tent on the roof of their house since the family is very large and the house is small that is the only place they could provide them. They’ve lived there since October 2017, the children play in a small area next to the tent but at great risk, since the house of Ana’s parents was also damaged due to the earthquake, the structure is not stable, the roof moves and when it trembles again it’s very dangerous since it puts both families at risk.

They are extremely excited and grateful that they will have their own house for the first time, where their children will grow up, a home where the kids will no longer be cold sleeping in a tent or live in the constant danger of living on a rooftop.

Timoteo y Ana Flor tienen tres hijos, Cristian de 7 años, Ana Itzel de 5 años y la pequeña Jessica de 3 años de edad. Timoteo es peón de campo y únicamente tiene trabajo durante los meses de cosecha de amaranto, que son noviembre, diciembre y enero. Ana Flor se dedica a cuidar a sus hijos y por la tarde va a vender chicharrones, golosinas y bebidas afuera del Bachiller Vespertino para ayudar a mantener a su familia.

Cuando Ana Flor y Timoteo se conocieron, decidieron probar suerte en la Ciudad de México; al no conseguir trabajo, regresaron a Tecuanipa, sin tener donde quedarse y sin la posibilidad de poderse quedar con alguno de los hermanos de Timoteo; se fueron a vivir a la Colonia (que es un cerro) donde les prestaron una casa y la habitaron por 3 años hasta poco después del sismo.

Durante el terremoto, la casa fue muy afectada por lo tanto les pidieron desalojarla para poder arreglarla. De nuevo se encontraban sin casa donde vivir y con escasos recursos no tienen la posibilidad de adquirir un terreno para poder instalarse ni mucho menos para poder construir. Los padres de Ana Flor, les permitieron poner una carpa en la azotea de su casa ya que la familia es muy grande y la casita es pequeña. Allí se instalaron en Octubre de 2017, donde los niños tienen un pequeño espacio donde pueden jugar aunque con mucho riesgo, como la casita donde viven sus padres también tuvo daños debido al sismo, la estructura no está estable, el techo se mueve y cuando vuelve a temblar es muy peligroso ya que pone en riesgo a ambas familias.

Están muy emocionados y agradecidos de que van a tener por primera vez una casa propia, donde van a crecer sus hijos, un hogar donde los niños ya no pasarán frío ni vivirán con el constante peligro de habitar sobre una azotea.
