VISITING THE SALVATION ARMY SHELTER “CASA PUERTA ESPERANZA”

Last week we visited the Salvation Army shelter “Casa Puerta Esperanza”, we were well received by their friendly staff and we had the opportunity to visit their facilities. We talked with the people in charge of the shelter who told us about the challenges they are facing day by day to support the children and their families. They told us that it has been difficult for them to meet the basic needs of the children, such as receiving basic academic education or attending school, having cultural, artistic or sports activities, receiving psychological sessions to help the emotional state of the children, among others that have been indispensable. During the time we talked, we analyzed the strategies that we could implement to provide the children with the essentials in their lives, we know it is not an easy task but with the support of your donations, we can change the life of each child.

We also shared a beautiful moment watching the children having a stretching and playing session, once they concluded their session we passed by to greet them and give them some donations, some items that they can use to develop their learning and creativity. The children gave us a couple of smiles and thanks for the donations they received, it was nice to see their happy faces. We must remember that learning is one of the most important pillars in the life of a child and sometimes because of the disadvantaged situations that have arisen in their lives, they find it very difficult to continue learning.

If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed.
